This week God’s word will be shared with possibly more living people than at any other time in history. In cooperation with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the people of churches across the United States and Canada will be given the tools and opportunity to view and listen to a gospel presentation by Billy Graham himself.
We can expect Billy Graham to share from the Bible and we can expect God’s word to accomplish its purpose. A couple fantastic verses that affirm this truth are:
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” — Isaiah 55:11
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12
What a great opportunity this is for Christians everywhere to rally around this historic sharing of truth. Billy Graham has been a faithful servant of God for many years and will celebrate his 95th birthday on Thursday. Major networks and headlines will be not be able to squelch this major event. It reminds me of the time in the Book of Esther when Mordecai encourages Esther to speak up for the Jews.
“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” — Esther 4:14
Perhaps along with Billy Graham and his associates this week, you and I have also been positioned for such a time as this. Share Christ with as many people as God gives you opportunity, and pray for God to move mightily in our midst. Maybe more than ever, right now, we need Jesus!
Praying with you and for you,
Mac
