God never ceases to amaze us when it comes to providing financially for the church and 2013 was no exception. The Rock Church stepped out in faith in many ways last year to make strides to win Utah and the world for Jesus. We started our Roots 2.0 capital campaign to raise funds to construct a building on our land in Draper, where we had 213 pledges in the amount of $1,690,000. In just 8 months of that campaign you generously donated $593,000. In 2013 we spent $212,000 on missions; international and local. Part of our mission statement at The Rock Church is to send believers to the ends of the earth to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2013 we sent teams to Honduras and Romania to do just that. As the year came to an end we did have to use $38,000 of our savings for general operations. When I first did the calculations and arrived at this number my first reaction was slight dismay but I was quickly reminded of all the amazing things God had provided for in 2013; 3 new staff members, 4 TRM albums given away for free, and $130,000 given away to organizations and churches outside of our own. Although we had to take money out of savings, we spent it on events and things that furthered the gospel.
As we kick off 2014 we have made a few changes and are researching different ways that we can effectively use the financial blessings that the Lord has provided. The first update for 2014 is a change in address for mailing your financial gifts and tithe. The new address is:
353 S 800 W
Provo, UT 84601
This is an important change to take note of if you use Bill Pay through your bank. If that is you, please contact your bank and update the mailing address for those checks. Second, we are looking into ways to minimize our PayPal fees. PayPal offers a great service but they do take 3% of the donations to the church. There is a way to use PayPal without any fees that requires linking your bank account information as opposed to your debit or credit card. If you are interested in using PayPal in this fashion please contact me, brent@experiencetherock.com, and I will help walk you through how to set this up. There are also some other options we are researching to replace PayPal. Lastly, the Annual Financial Report for 2013 is now available. You can pick up a printed copy of the report at any of the Storefront locations or you may download an electronic copy.
“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.” -1 Timothy 6:17
