To live as a disciple of Jesus Christ means to love Jesus, and to love people like He does.
But what does Jesus’ love look like in a Facebook culture that lists 40+ different choices for gender?
How do we share about the love of the Father in a generation in which 50+% of American children grow up in broken homes, 40% are born out of wedlock, and it’s estimated that more than 685,000 experience abuse each year?
What does it mean to offer the abundant life Jesus promised in a world where recreational sex is normal, drug and alcohol abuse are routine, and pornography generates as much revenue as the NFL?
And, as the social fabric in America loses its Christian framework, what challenges and choices will the committed disciple face in the workplace? In education? With our government?
The world has changed.
What does that mean for a heart set to follow Jesus?
In America we are now living in a culture more like the first century than the 20th century – in its values and worldview. The first century church was born into the same cultural and spiritual tension that Christianity increasingly faces today. Yet those first believers found their place at the frontline of this tension and never backed away. They followed Jesus in a very broken world, and they changed an empire. Frontline 2014 is going to take a raw, head-on look at what it means to live for Jesus in a generation that knows almost as little about Him as the generation into which He was born.
Frontline Messages:
Though anyone and everyone is invited to Frontline 2014, topics related specifically to family or marriage will not be addressed this year. Subjects addressed will be focused on understanding and responding to cultural and spiritual issues encountered daily by Christians in the world of education, media and the workplace, as well as our own culture-influenced lives. There will be no seminars this year; all messages will be main sessions.
Frontline Venue:
Frontline 2014 will be simple in focus and in form. The goal is to strip everything down to the challenges of following Jesus in a world that rejects the narrow road He called us to. The location will be a high school; breakfast and lunch will be provided, and dinner will be on your own. Accommodations will be in a nearby hotel, or for those looking for the most basic, economical option, housing like the very first Great Commission conferences has been arranged – sleeping in the high school.
Frontline Days:
Frontline 2014 is simply about knowing what it means to stand with Jesus in a world increasingly intolerant of Him. There will be a focus on prayer, time to be with God and time to be with one another. There will also be opportunities to explore Moab and the amazing, God-made scenery surrounding it. Frontline is about renewing you and preparing you to grow and bear fruit in this coming year. It’s also about fellowship, building friendships, and getting to know believers from churches all over the Mountains West Region. It will end with a New Year’s Celebration on December 31st.
Frontline is designed to be more than another good conference. It is aimed at touching and changing the lives of every person that comes – spiritually, relationally, and in life-direction. Frontline is about seeking and seeing the heart of Jesus. He is our Captain at the frontline we live in. And He promises He will never leave those who choose to stand with Him.
