“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” (Ephesians 1: 3-4)
The other day I was riding with my son in our truck. I asked him what came to his mind when he thought of something powerful. He told me he thought of lightning and a really strong guy, like Samson. Then he told me that he knew someone way stronger than anyone in the world. I asked him who that was, and he said, “God!” I said, “Good answer, son!” My five-year-old son was absolutely right; God is more powerful than anyone, or anything on this earth.
It’s so easy to lose sight of how incredibly and truly powerful our God is. If every Christian woke up and spent a few minutes in deep thought about this, and remembered how God chose to have relationship with us, we would cherish the gift of salvation and our relationship with Him so much more than we do.
Think about it, Christian. God has been waiting for and looking forward to a relationship with you since before the foundations of the earth. God’s desire for this relationship with you is older than the stone that David used to kill Goliath. It’s older than the mountain that Noah’s Ark came to rest upon. It’s older than any dinosaur bone. Christian, God’s desire for relationship with you is older than the dust that Adam was created out of! We have access to this incredible God through His Holy Spirit, who lives in us.
He loves us and He desires to have relationship with us. He died for us so that we could be holy and blameless before Him and approach the throne of grace with confidence. Let’s spend some time rejoicing that we have an all-powerful God who loves us and answers our prayers.
Dwelling on His power,
Billy
