God gives us all grace. He gives us grace in forgiving our sins when they do not deserve to be forgiven and He gives us grace in blessing us with many good things that we do not deserve. Personally, I feel like He has given me so much and I have a ton to be thankful for: my wife, my son, my house, my job, our church, a good education, food to eat everyday, etc, etc… You and I have been given so many good things, all by God’s grace.
In the same way, as God has given us gifts in His grace, we are to give graciously. The Bible says that we are literally stewards of God’s grace. God has been so incredibly kind to us in all that He has given to us and in return He asks us to be good stewards of that varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
I have been convicted by this verse lately. I look at it this way: I should be aiming to give as much grace as I have received from God in Christ. When I have a conversation with someone I should remember the Grace that God has given to me. When I am writing my tithe check, I should remember all that God has graciously given to me. When I need to train or correct my son, I should be as gracious to him as God has been to me. When someone in my small group is in need of my help or my time, I should give to them freely, in the same way that God has freely given to me. You get the idea!
As stewards of God’s grace, let’s give it freely!
In His Abundant Grace,
Austin
