“When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.” — Psalm 126:1-3
I recently read these verses and couldn’t help but reflect on some of the great things God has done in and through the people of The Rock Church (over the last 17 years).
One of the original banners we used to hang up at the Alta Canyon Recreation Center (where we met for church) said, The Salt City Rock — We’re Glad You’re Here. We have been so blessed to see so many lives changed as people come to Jesus. I am so glad WE are here to participate in what God is doing in Utah.
The Amplified Bible expounds on verse one (above) as follows: we were like those who dreamed (it seemed unreal). When the Spirit of God is moving, it really can seem unreal and sometimes like a dream. The people of The Rock Church are really just a rag-tag group of everyday people. We have all kinds of strengths and weaknesses. Every single one of us has a unique story and each one of us brings something of God into this family. God uses it all. He has given us an incredibly unique opportunity to reach people for Jesus in Utah. I believe He is not even close to being done yet. The harvest is extremely ripe and the workers are few.
Please prepare your hearts and minds for what God has us involved in right now (during this holiday season). Our church is bursting at the seams with visitors. We expect our Christmas programs to bring more visitors than we’ve ever had. Christmas weekend will provide one of the best opportunities you can imagine to celebrate the birth of Jesus with our friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
Be ready and alert to share the love of Jesus — He IS doing great things!
Glad we’re here!
