God loves you! Jesus’ coming into this world and going through everything He did (including His death) was God’s gift to you. This is the heartbeat of the Bible and the wonderful message of Christmas. He loves you.
Isaiah 9:6 says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Look again at what that verse says. “For to us….”. Are you catching it? It says, “for to us a son is given…” Jesus is a gift from God to us!
I’ve received a lot of really amazing gifts from people who love me. But, I’ve never received a gift like that. A gift that is all-powerful and all-knowing. A gift that will never break or wear out. A royal gift who rules with peace. There is only one gift that meets all of that criteria and that is Jesus Christ. He alone is the key to peace and relationship with God.
This is why we look forward to Christmas all year. This is why we generously give gifts and graciously accept them from others. It’s because God was generous and gracious to us first.
I pray we will honor and glorify Jesus as we celebrate Christmas this year. We need to remember that God loves us!
Merry Christmas,
Billy
