Happy New Year! It always amazes me how quickly one year comes to an end and another one takes its place. It’s a never ending cycle. A few days ago, I was reading in the Bible (the book of Revelation). What really stood out to me was that when Jesus comes to make all things new, it will be the end of the “out with the old and in with the new” mentality we’ve all come to know in this life.
In Revelation 21:1-3 says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
A time is coming when everything will be perfect, exactly as it was meant to be. God will actually dwell with us! Christian, are you excited about this? Do you believe this? It is a promise from God.
As Christians, we can be sure of what will happen when our earthly lives come to an end! We aren’t supposed to just “hope for the best”. There should be no question about where we will spend eternity, wondering if we’ve done enough good. We’re not counting on our own works or righteousness to determine what will happen after we breathe our last; we are counting on the promises of God and the righteousness of Jesus! HE made us righteous by His death and His resurrection. That is our assurance.
God promises us an eternal future with Him. An eternal resting place where He will wipe away every tear from our eyes; where death and mourning will be no more. A future where there will be no more crying or pain. Jesus made us a promise — He said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
If you are a Christian but you’re not 100% confident that you will spend eternity with Him, I encourage you to take heart in what Jesus has done for you. If you aren’t even sure about what Jesus has done for you (or you want to know more about the relationship the God wants with you), please email me at billy@trc.life. I would love to share this Good News with you.
The book of Revelation ends with Jesus saying, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
Looking forward to eternity,
Billy
