We live in an amazing country and today we celebrate its birth — the signing of The Declaration of Independence! A day that gave hope and freedom to us all.
It’s so easy to take the freedom we have in the United States for granted. We have more freedom than most people in the world do. Freedom of Religion. Freedom of Speech. Freedom of the Press….just to name a few. We go to bed at night and awake each morning, not realizing what it has taken (and continues to take) to protect and defend the country we live in.
Our country was made free by the countless lives of many courageous men and women. Not only did they sacrifice so that The Declaration of Independence could be signed in 1776, but they have laid down their lives to protect our country, our people, every day since. Men and women serve our country 24 hours a day. They literally put themselves in harm’s way for us. They risk their own comforts, their health and an easy life so you can sleep peacefully at night.
God has indeed blessed our country. We have a government by the people and for the people. A government which gives each of us a voice, rights and freedom. Next time you see any military personnel, please shake their hand and thank them for their service. It often goes unnoticed and it’s only right that we honor them. We are so thankful for all that they do.
Today, enjoy the fireworks, hotdogs and apple pie. But, also take some time to thank God for the United States of America — our government, and those who protect our freedom. May He continue to bless the land of the free and the brave!
