“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” – 1 Peter 2:9-10
Praise Jesus, that He has brought us into His Royal family! But, Christian, do you ever feel like you don’t belong? Do you feel alone? Do you feel like you’re unworthy? The Bible says you DO belong because God has shown you mercy. Not because of what you have been or what you’ve done but because of what Jesus did for you.
The best part of this Truth is this belonging doesn’t just mean that you are tolerated or put up with by Him. This isn’t that God has picked you as if you were the last kid available for dodgeball. No, God has made you one of His own. He has brought you into His royal family. God has loved you more than you could know and has claimed you. He claimed you just as you are. He says that you will get to live with Him forever. And, living with Him doesn’t mean that He will just give you some random place to live.
I think of the show, Downton Abbey (don’t judge me, you know it’s a great show) — God doesn’t hire you on as His lowly servant and then give you a lousy place to live in the basement with the other obscure servants. NO! God has made you His very own child! He brings you into His family. God gives you a room with His royal family in the nice and fancy decorated rooms — upstairs in the castle. You get to enjoy all of the fruits and joys that come along with being a member of His royal family.
Jesus promises that you will NEVER be alone. You are His and He has made you worthy because of what He did. You belong to His Royal family because HE says so.
Praise Jesus for His mercy,
