“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
We are in a war and the war is for our mind. All day long, the world around us (and even our very flesh) communicates something contrary to the Spirit of God. Each day, the devil fights for your mind. He wants it. If he can grab a hold of you and get you to believe a lie, it will direct your life and color the decisions you make. In the end, these decisions will lead you further and further from Christ.
Because the war is for our mind, we need to take captive every thought, every idea and every motivation. We need to hold it up to the Truth of Christ. Is the idea rebellious toward God? Does it honor God? Does it draw us closer to Him? Is the thought real or does it wage war against the Truth of God? Do these thoughts cause us to be secretive or ashamed?
We cannot afford to become lazy in our thinking. We cannot afford to be lazy in our understanding of Biblical Truths. In a war, we must have our battle gear in place. Only the fool enters the battle unprepared. The Bible gives us a clear picture of what our attire should be; we find it in Ephesians 6:14-17. It says that we must have, “The helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, the breast plate of righteousness, the belt of truth around our waist, feet ready with the Gospel, the sword of the spirit- the word of God.”
Today, be prepared for the war. Take up your sword, and with divine power, demolish the strongholds that wage war against your mind. Jesus will lead us to victory. He will lead us to Himself. He will lead us to places of abundance. We must listen to Him above every other voice. Grab your sword, grab your helmet. I will see you on the battlefield.
“Lord, I hear lots of voices that are not Yours. Mainly, I hear voices telling me where I will find more rest outside of You. Today, will you lead me in your Truth? By Your Spirit, will you open my eyes to discern what is real and what is a lie? Will you give me the strength to take every thought captive and make it obedient to You? You are all I want in this life. You are my place of refuge. Amen.”
Fighting with you,
Steele
