Hello, Church ~
Unprecedented times we are living in. CDC recommendations regarding no large gatherings and talk of quarantines and travel restrictions. There is much wisdom in following these recommendations. With that said, how do we as Christians, continue to obey Hebrews 10:23-25?
Hebrews 10:23
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Fortunately, God has blessed us with amazing technology. With cell phones, email, text messaging, teleconferencing (tele-churching) and church video streaming, we have the ability to “not neglect to meet together.” There may be a new learning curve for adapting to new technologies. But, Church, my encouragement to you is to not forsake assembling together digitally. Make the effort to learn a new way to communicate with Christians consistently.
And while we are tele-churching, how do we stir one another to love and good works? The first step is by being fed spiritually every day. Let’s spend a good chunk of every day reading the Word of God and praying (before we jump on our news feeds and social media). That will allow us to have the mind of Christ as we speak to each other. We need to be able to encourage each other in our faith in these unprecedented times. Spending hours reading the news, playing games, or watching shows will not fill our faith tank. These things are good in moderation.
I am praying that, as a Church, we are feeding on God’s Word and taking our worries to Him in prayer daily. And in turn, we’ll make consistent effort to meet together digitally.
Praying for you,
