Hello, Rock Church,
As you may have heard, the governor of Utah announced on Wednesday (May 6, 2020) that churches could start meeting again (provided they follow basic social distancing guidelines). The Rock Pastors have been reading through these guidelines, talking with doctors and state officials, and praying. We are currently considering reopening our church sometime in June. There will obviously be countless details to figure out in the coming weeks. We need God’s wisdom and guidance through all of this.
Having said that, there are some things we want you to know during this process:
We will be careful.
- First, we will continue to take our cues from the state and federal authorities. God has given them to us and we are going to trust that He will lead us through them.
- Second, in planning how to meet together as a large group, we will be careful. We’re not going to do anything that might put people in harm’s way. With church members ranging from 9-weeks old to 97-years old, we know there are those who are more susceptible to illness than others — we will be careful.
We will keep you informed.
- We will communicate any new plans to you as God shows us. We have formed a pastoral task force that is diligently working to come up with a “phase-in” approach to meeting again. We have some fantastic ideas on how to use our Small Groups to encourage our church and keep sharing the Gospel. We’re getting creative!
- We’re getting counsel from medical professionals and government officials.
Two things you can do:
- First, please pray. Pray for your pastors, for our state and our country — that we can get back together (sooner, rather than later).
- Second, please be patient. Patience is needed right now. Like Proverbs 21:31 states, ”The horse is made ready for the day of battle but victory rests with the Lord.” Victory in all of this rests with our God. He is in control of our timetable.
Continue to join us at our livestreamed weekend services and worship events. Make sure you’re staying connected with your Small Groups — stay encouraged in your faith.
We are eagerly anticipating worshiping Jesus together again. We miss you!
Resting in the Lord,
Bill (on behalf of the pastors)
