“Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns…” — Revelation 19:6
I have been reading the Revelation of Jesus Christ for the last month; it has personally encouraged and challenged me. Recently, I read the above verse. Can you imagine that moment? The history of our planet is winding down. God is about to usher in the new heavens and earth. A great multitude of Believers from all of human history is gathered together worshiping God.
The Great Multitude
The author John is trying to describe what he saw and heard. I was struck by his description, “the roar” from “the great multitude.” Can you image that moment? How large will that crowd be? How many billions of people have lived on the earth since creation? And what percentage of those people have been followers of Jesus? Only God knows, but maybe hundreds of millions (or even billions) of Believers will be singing their hearts out to the Lord!
The sound will be so loud that John describes it like the roar of many waters or mighty peals of thunder. The loudest concert or sporting event you have ever been to will pale in comparison to that moment in history.
Christian, this is our destiny. We will be standing with the largest crowd in the history of the planet singing our hearts out to our King of Kings! As a result, it will be so loud that the author John could only think of waves and thunder to describe what he was hearing. Certainly, that vision of the future should encourage you!
Looking forward to that day,
