A simple invitation could change the direction of someone’s life and eternal destination.
As part of our Mission To The City last week, a team of us passed out flyers around the Midvale City Park; we invited the neighborhood to a park party. We prayed together and broke down into smaller teams to distribute the flyers.
The group I was with had two littles who were thrilled about placing the invite on the doors. It was a great display of faith. They ran to the door, taped on the invite and ran back for the next one.
To add to their excitement, a thought kept coming to my mind. A simple invite could change the direction of someone’s life and eternal destination. Because we invited a stranger to the park, their life could be different. We finished our flyering and were eager about the upcoming party.
You Have Good News
Every day, we have opportunities to engage with strangers. Opportunities can happen at the grocery store, school, bank or work. Undoubtedly, the list is endless. So, why are we fearful about simply inviting someone to church or a church event? What you have is Good News!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! — Isaiah 52:7 (NLT)
This verse is a great reminder to me. My life was changed 18 years ago because someone gave my wife an invitation to The Rock Church.
Simply put, we should be on a mission to our city every day. Look for ways to share the Good News with those around you. It doesn’t change. Therefore, my challenge for you (over the next 30 days), is to find opportunities to invite others to church, encourage them to watch three of our weekend messages or share the Gospel with them.
A simple invitation could change the direction of someone’s life and eternal destination.
In it with you,
