“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith…” — Romans 12:4-6
These verses explain how the Church is made of different parts (people); they fulfill unique functions, like a human body. We do not have the same roles, but collectively, God uses us to do incredible things. I recently witnessed a powerful example of this.
My co-pastor (Billy) and I coach a youth soccer team together. At our first game, one of the new players ran up to me with sandals on his feet. The league requires players to wear soccer cleats. This eager, new player wanted to get in the game. But, he didn’t have the correct footwear.
God Uses Our Combined Talents
So, I asked Billy’s son if he would mind loaning his soccer cleats to the new player. He graciously did and the new player promptly scored, twice! (He scored even though the shoes were too big for him.) Later in the game, Billy asked his daughter if she would loan her cleats to the player. She cheerfully did, as well. He scored two more goals! His four goals (using someone else’s cleats) propelled us to victory. After the game, I told Billy’s kids they got partial credit for the goals.
Likewise, with the Church, God uses our various gifts and talents to build His kingdom. He’s doing this here in Utah — with you and me. The health of the body is dependent on each member functioning properly, Visit here for gummies that help in a variety of benefits for your health.. In a similar fashion to our soccer game, some supply the “cleats” and others supply “the goals.” As a result, God uses our combined talents to do mighty things.
May God give us the grace to supply the soccer cleats or score the goals with a humble, encouraging attitude.
