“For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable, eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Our team joined all the missionaries and their children on a boating excursion in the Adriatic Sea today. We stopped for lunch in Rovinj, then headed up the Lim Fjord, stopping at a historic pirate cave.
More than the beauty and adventure of the day, the highlight was simply being surrounded by God’s people. Fellowship with new and old Christian friends is a glimpse of Heaven. Hearing stories from missionaries around the world, whose daily lives are different than ours in America was fascinating. Moreover, we were mutually encouraged because, despite the differences in daily life, the ministry is the same.
Attrition happens, people leave the faith; there is pain, there is fear, there is uncertainty and unbelievable joy in this Christian life. There is hope in the Lord, always. And it was an encouraging reminder of those truths – even the hard things – amidst Believers all across the globe. We serve the same King. And our ultimate destination is to rejoice and rest in eternity.
We are thankful for this glimpse of Heaven and for your prayers.
