Recently, I listened to a teaching that reminded me how good it is to remember that we (as Christians) are citizens of God’s Kingdom. We have a large family in the faith — brothers and sisters in the Lord, all over the world. God’s Spirit is moving and the Gospel is advancing more than ever. Our family is growing, even today!
Jesus talked about the Kingdom more than anything else.
“Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And healing every kind of disease and illness.” — Matthew 9:35
At times, I must admit that I feel a little bit like a coin in a piggy bank as I’m trying to keep from falling through the slot in the top. I don’t want to lose my value. However, I’m thankful to remember that the Bible teaches that I will never lose my value. I cannot. His Kingdom is in us as Believers. (Luke 17:21). My most intrinsic value is realized when I am spent for the Lord. Serving and worshipping the Lord is what we were created for.
As a Church, as His body, we share the enormous privilege of introducing others to the Kingdom. It’s way beyond us, what we’re capable of. That’s what makes it so exhilarating. Only God can make it happen; He lives inside of us and that’s exactly what He does. As Christians, we share a common mantra — oh Lord, bring your Kingdom!
May we be a church full of God’s Kingdom citizens who pray the way Jesus taught us to. “May your Kingdom come soon.”
