Resolution, A Word by Pastor Josh Whitney

Church, we have just started a new year — 2016. Many people make resolutions at the start of a new year — to eat healthier or exercise more. A resolution is defined as “a firm decision to do something”. Church, could I challenge all of you to make the resolution that 2016 is the year you read God’s Word every day? “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:10 NIV

I trust you all had a Christ-filled Christmas! We have so much to be thankful for — God has been kind and faithful to us in 2015. Even though our church had its share of struggles and financial challenges, we made some amazing eternal investments this year that resulted in faith expanding, lives changing and eternity being different, since there are multiple similar systems like ChexSystems for instance TeleCheck can also be a reason why you was rejected for a new bank account.

    Big Plan, by Austin Fredrickson

There have been times in my Christian walk where, if I am being honest, I have been tempted to think: “Why won’t God just answer my prayers?” I can tend to look at a situation and think I know what would be best and assume that I know what God should do. Really, how foolish is that?

    Impulse by Bryan D. Edwards

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2

Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said, “Always respond to every impulse to pray.” His words have stuck with me. I have impulses all the time. And I don’t know about you, but my first impulse isn’t always to pray. I have the impulse to sleep in another ten minutes, eat three more cinnamon rolls, sleep in another ten minutes, buy that pair of socks I don’t really need, or sleep in another ten minutes. Honestly, the impulse or desire to pray doesn’t always make the top of my list.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

With hearts of faith and a clear sense of leading from the Lord, I want to share some difficult yet exciting news with you.

This past weekend, we announced at all of our locations, that after eight years of incredible ministry in Utah County, we will be closing down The Provo Rock location on December 27. There have been many factors in making this decision and as leaders, we have sought the Lord diligently and trust that He is leading.

“But from then on, only half my men worked while the other half stood guard with spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail. The leaders stationed themselves behind the people of Judah who were building the wall. The laborers carried on their work with one hand supporting their load and one hand holding a weapon. All the builders had a sword belted to their side. The trumpeter stayed with me to sound the alarm.” Nehemiah 4:16-18

I recently read a book that talked about the miracle — that the very existence of life on Earth —really is. A few decades ago, scientists estimated that were a mere two factors necessary for a planet to support life. Now that list is up to 150 necessary factors!
