  1. Make it a Habit

Make it a habit, a word by pastor Tony D'Amico from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. "Let His Word be a light to your life and have a goal to be in the Bible more consistently in 2020. Here are some different plans..."

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

As the new year approaches, it’s natural to set goals — things we want to get better at or maybe stop doing. This verse really speaks to me in terms of that goal setting. Unless we have a planned path to walk, we won’t move in the right direction. If we can’t see where we are going, we’ll stumble around in the darkness.

  2. Christmas

Christmas, a blog by Billy Johnson from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. "No matter how you celebrate (or how many you’ve celebrated), each Christmas is a reminder to us that Jesus came to this world and dwelt among us."

Well, it’s that time of year and tomorrow we’ll celebrate Christmas! We’ll celebrate in our own ways and for me, it’ll be my 35th Christmas. Each one of them has been different. Some have been memorable and detailed in my mind, some have blended together and some of them I don’t remember
    at all.

No matter how you celebrate (or how many you’ve celebrated), each Christmas is a reminder to us that Jesus came to this world and dwelt among us. It’s an opportunity for us to remember that He came to save us.

  3. Royal Family

Royal family, a word by pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. "Praise Jesus, that He has brought us into His Royal family! But, Christian, do you ever feel like you don’t belong? Do you feel alone?"

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” – 1 Peter 2:9-10

Praise Jesus, that He has brought us into His Royal family! But, Christian, do you ever feel like you don’t belong? Do you feel alone? Do you feel like you’re unworthy? The Bible says you DO belong because God has shown you mercy. Not because of what you have been or what you’ve done but because of what Jesus did for you.

  4. Reputation for Faith

A Reputation for Faith, a word by pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. “Am I chasing a legacy or a reputation based on what I’ve done or on what can be seen?” or, “Am I confident that it’s my faith that leaves a lasting mark?”

“All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.” — Hebrews 11:39 (NLT)

I love this verse. As many of you know, it comes from the book of Hebrews — a book that boasts the great Hall of Faith heroes. Recently, as I was reading Hebrews, this verse spoke to me.

  5. An Atheist, Buddhist and Christian Walk Into a Class

An Atheist, Buddhist and Christian Walk Into a Class - a word by pastor Josh Whitney from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. “And I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.”

“And I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.” — Philemon 1:6

Recently, I had a chance to experience this verse firsthand. I was invited by a friend to speak to his class on the topic of Christianity. There were a number of unbelievers there, including an atheist and Buddhist. We spent the next two hours discussing their questions (related to the reliability of the Bible, science, the problem of evil, Jesus, questions about the character and nature of God and the Gospel). In fact, I was able to share the Gospel multiple times and invite the group to church!

  6. Strength in Weakness

Strength in Weakness, a word by pastor Bill Young from The The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. "We can “plug into” the wrong power source. We do this by trusting in our religious piety or our good works. Both of these sources will fail us."

“For when I am weak, then I am strong.” — 2 Corinthians 12:10b

In Mark (Chapter 9), we see that Jesus took Peter, James and John to a mountain top. During their retreat, the nine remaining Disciples (who had been left on their own) were having a big problem! The father of a demon-possessed boy had come looking for Jesus and the Disciples were trying to help. But, they were failing miserably. To make things worse, the teachers of the Law were laughing and arguing with them.

  7. Exercising the Gift of “No”

Exercising the Gift of “No”, a word by pastor Billy Johnson from The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. When we practice and follow through with the gift of saying “No”, we’re setting our children up for success in their walks with God.

We’ve all lived it and we’ve all seen it. A child doing something they shouldn’t be doing and the parent telling them to stop. The child either pretends not to hear (or shoots a look of defiance) before going back to what their parent told them not to do. What happens next?
