Supporting Local Churches
For the last 13 years, our mission in Honduras has been to support the local church in their efforts to spread the gospel and care for the poor. The people are generally very open to having conversations about God and there are usually dozens of salvation stories on every trip that we go on. They are also suffering from extreme poverty in their country. One out of five people live on less than two dollars a day and 70% of the population makes under $1200 a year. A majority of children live in poverty and suffer from malnourishment, but the local church is actively working to provide relief for its community and our mission trips are full of activities to help them do this. The last couple of years we have spent 3 to 4 days treating hundreds of patients in medical clinics where each person also receives prayer and a gospel presentation. We also participate in their nutrition center programs, ministry to orphans, and neighborhood evangelism. Our visits provide important encouragement and resources for the Honduran church that are acting as the hands and feet of Jesus.
