Gniezno, Part II

July 26th, 2008

Tonight (July 26) was our second concert in a smaller city an hour from Poznan called Gniezno.  Yesterday we all felt bogged down at our concert, like we were sharing Jesus in slow motion.  But since Christ’s power is made perfect in our weakness, 2 Polish girls accepted Christ and many seeds of truth were planted.  This is a country that has very few Jesus freaks like us to make God famous.  So it has been a humbling experience just knowing that we may never see fruit in our lifetime; we may not even get into a conversation about God.  But He lives inside of us, and God works miracles even without our words.

We began the day visiting one of the “mini” forts that were used as Concentration Camps.  We walked from our hotel.  That alone was sobering, that we could walk there! I can’t begin to express what we experienced, only to tell you that humanity has the capacity to do unspeakable evils.  I think we were all shaken up.  But it gave us insight into the Polish mentality: they are a people that were attacked from 2 fronts, from 2 brutal tyrants without conscience within the same decade.  The only constant, to them, has been their Catholicism.  So it makes sense that to be Polish is synonymous with being Catholic.  They don’t want someone telling them what to do, let alone what to believe.  My heart breaks for these people.

Anyway, our outdoor concert last night was fuel for tonight.  Just like in Torino, the first concert softened the hearts of the people for the next.  I didn’t have any expectations because yesterday was so difficult.  This concert was in a church that Jack and Joan Stockdale have befriended, so I was prepared for no one to come.  There is just a pervasive opposition to any church that is Protestant here in Poland, even more so than in Italy.  So I was prepared for the worst.

But God came in power, like he always does.  Many young people from last night came, including the 2 girls who received Christ.  The 3 sets of musicians that played sounded amazing; and once again, the Holy Spirit was palpable.  Afterwards, I think every single one of us was in a conversation with a native here.  More salt was spread.  God is moving these people out of the darkness with every bit of truth we give them – even if it’s without words.  Keep praying for these people.  Nothing is impossible with God.

Surprised by God,

Kim

It’s great that even though the expected or hoped for numbers of people may not show up God ALWAYS shows up!
I’m sure you guys have had some great highs and some lows for sure on your trip but be encouraged that God will water the seeds that have been planted, and that He is also “growing” all of you to be strong warriors for Him through this experience.
Have a safe trip home, we have been praying for all of you every day, say hi to Sierra!

Praise God for the two girls who received Christ! It has been our prayer that you get to see here on earth at least some small part of the fruit of your work there, what an awesome way to see a prayer answered!

We miss you all, the church campout was great but your presence was greatly missed!

Your example of perseverance in the face of such strong opposition and coldness is an amazing example to all of us. We have been inspired and learned so much just reading your posts! Never doubt that you are making a difference…a very big, very important difference! God is so good, thank you for following His lead.

    James 5:11
As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

I love how God always exceeds our expectations. You’d think we’d learn to set our expectations higher, but it’s so hard to fathom His all-encompassing power and greatness. I think that must be why He continues to “wow” us, to show us His presence and that truly NOTHING is impossible in Him! We are so grateful to God for revealing to you the power you have in Him to truly change lives one at a time, and in turn change the entire world!

We agree with the Hales and the Ortiz’s, the campout was truly awesome. The Holy Spirit was (as one of you put earlier) palpable. People were encouraged, fires sparked up again from dormant embers in people’s hearts, bonds of friendship strengthened through our unity as the body of Christ. It truly felt like a family gathering, albeit a huge family, Andy said we had around 300 people. However, as part of our family, you all were truly missed. To Mac and Steele as pastors, your flock truly loves you and have learned so much from you, as so many spontaneous break-off groups could be heard quoting your sermons and things from personal council you have given people. (Steele, for us, Casey brought your presence there by playing and singing your songs throughout the day. Man that guy ROCKS for Jesus! He even baptized his Dad there! Just goes to show how one flipped person can be so incredibly powerful and inspiring to others!) I believe The Hales and my family have been brought closer together, more powerfully, through following you all and your journey to save souls in Europe. It was so awesome to be connected in a personal way to them through you. I love how God works!

We will be praying for the saints there, the saved hearts to be on fire for Jesus, to thirst for more of Him, and to seek Him in His word!
