This week we are starting a new series called "Essentials of Forgiveness"
How would you like more goodness, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love in your life? 2 Peter 1:8 tells us to “Make every effort” to get these great traits. But then we read in verse 9, “But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.”
In my experience as a pastor, I interact with a lot of Christians with “low self esteem”. In fact, it sometimes seems like there is no practical difference between Christian behavior and that of unbelievers. Christians have the same worries, problems, troubles, and sadly, many times have the same solutions. We have the same divorce rates, suicide rates, addictions, trends toward depression, and adultery — there is often no distinction! Where is the power? Where is the abundant life? Where is the joy? How can Christians live differently?
I believe the answer is in discovering our true identity — that we are forgiven! Once we believe this, our actions will reflect who we really are. Today, we will look at four truths of forgiveness that will unleash God’s power in our lives!
From Series: "The Essentials of Forgiveness: Draper"
Mark Twain once said, “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heal that has crushed it.” The problem is, most Christians don’t even understand the basics of what God’s forgiveness really means, let alone know how to apply forgiveness to others or themselves. In this 5 week series we will discover the very essential elements of forgiveness that are so crucial for living the full—and free—Christian life.
