Have you ever felt tired as a Christian? Have you ever felt exhausted by "doing the next right thing"? Have you ever felt like your "ministry" is useless? Have you ever wondered if you could go on? What do you think God "thinks" of you in those times? How do you think God responds to the weary? This teaching is about Elijah but an even more wonderful comfort is God.
The stories of the Old Testament can sometimes be unfamiliar to us as Christians. It says in Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." But, like this verse in Romans states, they were written to instruct us. Join us as we spend 12 weeks studying through a variety of Old Testament characters. Studying their lives in greater detail will both instruct and challenge us. But, it doesn't stop there. These Old Testament characters don't simply instruct and encourage us. They also point (like a big, old laser beam) to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a life of faith. All of these heroes of the Old Testament are ultimately a version of or a picture of Jesus. Join us as Jesus is Better!
