In part two of our 1st Peter series, we see some responses to the incredible truths presented in the first part of chapter one. Peter reminds the Christians to put their hope in Christ' return. And Peter gives us multiple reasons to be holy; to imitate our father in heaven, out of holy fear and out of thankfulness. Additionally, Peter reminds these Christians to love each other in the face of persecution.
The Book of 1 Peter was written to a church that was facing serious trials and turmoil (not unlike our world today). The hardships they were confronted with had them doubting God’s grace and made them fearful of their future. Peter reminded them that this world would never truly be their home (or ours) because they were citizens of heaven. We must put our ultimate hope in Christ as we live in the tension of being in the world, but not of the world. This ten-week series will help us successfully navigate the messed up society we’re in and experience lives of joy and hope as we learn to follow God’s Way!
