In a day and age when it seems trendy to rebel against "the man" (our boss or the government), Peter presents a different standard for us, as Christians. In these verses, there are practical, timeless truths, related to submitting to the authorities in our lives. When this seems difficult or impossible, Peter points us to the ultimate example of submission, Jesus Christ.
The Book of 1 Peter was written to a church that was facing serious trials and turmoil (not unlike our world today). The hardships they were confronted with had them doubting God’s grace and made them fearful of their future. Peter reminded them that this world would never truly be their home (or ours) because they were citizens of heaven. We must put our ultimate hope in Christ as we live in the tension of being in the world, but not of the world. This ten-week series will help us successfully navigate the messed up society we’re in and experience lives of joy and hope as we learn to follow God’s Way!
