In these verses, Peter presents some very practical exhortations for Christians. There are five great attitudes that they need to model with each other. Peter then sets a radical standard of returning good for evil. As he talks to the persecuted Christians, he gives them a number of keys to living the good life.
The Book of 1 Peter was written to a church that was facing serious trials and turmoil (not unlike our world today). The hardships they were confronted with had them doubting God’s grace and made them fearful of their future. Peter reminded them that this world would never truly be their home (or ours) because they were citizens of heaven. We must put our ultimate hope in Christ as we live in the tension of being in the world, but not of the world. This ten-week series will help us successfully navigate the messed up society we’re in and experience lives of joy and hope as we learn to follow God’s Way!
