It is written that Solomon was the wisest man to have ever lived. He had everything that he ever could have wanted: fame, fortune, and knowledge. But, at the end of his life, he said that it was all meaningless. Why would the wisest person ever write something like that at the end of his life? Let’s take a look at five areas from the life and writings of Solomon and see what we can learn.
The stories of the Old Testament can sometimes be unfamiliar to us as Christians. It says in Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." But, like this verse in Romans states, they were written to instruct us. Join us as we spend 12 weeks studying through a variety of Old Testament characters. Studying their lives in greater detail will both instruct and challenge us. But, it doesn't stop there. These Old Testament characters don't simply instruct and encourage us. They also point (like a big, old laser beam) to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a life of faith. All of these heroes of the Old Testament are ultimately a version of or a picture of Jesus. Join us as Jesus is Better!
