    Time To Harvest

“Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” — Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)

Recently, The Rock Pastors received a very encouraging email from a longtime LDS member (who recently got saved through the ministry of The Rock Church). In part he said,

Jesus Is God With Us, A Word by Pastor Bryan Edwards of The Rock Church in Utah.

Christmas — the most wonderful time of the year!

When I think of Christmas, there are so many wonderful and exciting things that come to my mind I don’t even know where to begin. A few of my favorite things are: picking out the perfect tree, hanging up the Christmas lights, and sipping hot chocolate (with extra marshmallows) while Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby sing in the background.

Singing Loudly, A Word from Pastor Steele Croswhite of The Rock Church in Utah.

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” — Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV)

This weekend, I had the privilege of helping lead three, separate worship services at The Rock Church. I was reminded this morning, while reading my Bible, that singing and entering into God’s presence with music is a command from the Lord.

  4. God With Us Christmas Series by

It says in Matthew 1:23, “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him ‘Immanuel’ — which means, God with us.” Christmas isn’t ultimately about gifts, pretty lights, Santa, or a festive party. Christmas is about the coming of God into this world. Jesus of Nazareth — God in the flesh — came to this world as a baby. He grew up to become a man and then died. He died for the sins of all Mankind — including yours. This four-part series will start December 2 & 3. Join us during this Christmas season as we reflect on the birth, humanity, divinity, and saving power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

  5. What Have You Made Today? by

What Have You Made Today?, A Word by Pastor Bill Young of The Rock Church in Utah.

“But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.” — Hebrews 1:2 (NIV84)

The universe is HUGE. It’s way bigger than we can visualize. To even try and imagine how big it is, place a penny in front of you. If our sun was the size of that penny, the nearest star, Alpha Centauri, would be 350 miles away. For us in Salt Lake City, that would take us all the way to Las Vegas (as the crow flies)!

  7. Dealing With Disappointment by

Dealing with Disappointment, A Word by Pastor Caleb Yetton of The Rock Church in Utah. The Rock Church is a non-denominational Christian Church.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment.” — Romans 5:3-5a NLT

A great many things in this life can leave us feeling hopeless and disappointed. People, institutions, and other life circumstances can easily seem to betray our hope. We can even have the thought, “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.” What a disappointing thought to have. Whether these offenses are intentional or unintentional, they can send us reeling. What are we to do with this disappointment?

Be Quiet, A Word from Bryan Edwards from The Rock Church.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”— Psalm 1:1-2

We live in day and age where we have access to innumerable amounts of input, self-help tips, tricks, and secrets that offer help to improve our life and circumstances. On top of that, when you add the pressure and influence from unbelievers in our fallen world, it can cloud or confuse our thinking as to what is actually true.

Thrill, a Word from Tony D'Amico of The Rock Church in Utah

I love the thrill of roller coasters. There is just something about them — the anticipation while I am waiting in line, the grinding and clanking sounds while I slowly move to the top, and then… the drop! I get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. I usually go through the entire ride with a huge smile on my face. As it comes to the end, I get super pumped and want to do it all over again!
