  1. But Let the One Who Boasts…

But Let the One Who Boasts… — a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord,"

“This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.” — Jeremiah 9:23-24

Without a doubt, we live in a culture full of boasting, don’t we? There is no need to go further than our phones, computers, news feeds, billboards, television, radio (or even our mirrors) to see how prevalent boasting is.

  2. If You Can’t Be Kind, Be Quiet

If You Can’t Be Kind, Be Quiet — a word by Pastor Bill Young from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Are you tempted to say (or post) something mean or nasty? Before you do, remember this wise advice: “If you can’t be kind, be quiet.”

I recently taught at church about how to treat fellow believers when we disagree politically. Christians who differ on such issues should always do so with a spirit of kindness, graciousness, and understanding. Indeed, this spirit honors King Jesus.

I know a little bit about conflict. Like everyone else, I’ve had my fair share of personal skirmishes with my wife, kids, family, co-workers, teammates, etc.  Additionally, for the past 33 years, I have been called in to help hundreds of other people resolve their broken relationships. In fact, just this past week, I had the opportunity to help resolve a dispute between two dear friends. Fortunately, humility carried the day, and all was well.

Rejoice Always – a word by Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "No matter what the circumstances, life can be (and is) very hard to rejoice in. But, that is exactly what the Lord calls us to do!"

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

It can be so easy to be discouraged. Whether it’s something in our own lives or the world around us, we are surrounded by hard situations and events. Perhaps your health is deteriorating, your job is going poorly, or your marriage is in shambles? Maybe a loved one is struggling? Do you look at the state of our world today and wonder what will happen next? No matter what the circumstances, life can be (and is) very hard to rejoice in. But, that is exactly what the Lord calls us to do!

  4. “The ___ One” Series

A new, six-week series at The Rock Church in Draper, Utah. We will examine the difference Jesus makes and understand why we can’t live without Him. Without a doubt, He is The One.

What’s the big deal about Jesus anyway? Is He truly The One Christians claim He is? Does Jesus honestly have an impact on our lives today?

We live in a world that has global influencers around every corner. From TikTok stars to political leaders, their imprint is worldwide. Because of that influence (and our society’s significant progress socially, economically, technologically and scientifically) it has become very easy for us to ask, “Does Jesus even matter anymore?” Many people think Jesus seems just, well, a bit… outdated.

  5. Let the Word of God Lead You

Dear Church, Together with you, we continue to be troubled by the events in our world regarding race and racism. Naturally, there are multiple voices we turn to in these times of uncertainty. For example, many of us turn to our favorite author or speakers. Some of us look to our news outlets, social media feeds or friends/family for direction. Though many of these are fine resources, as your pastors, we would encourage you (above all other resources), to let the Word of God lead you.

Even in our restlessness, our fears and our questions, God’s Word remains the same. Truly, the Word of God is alive and powerful!

  6. Hope of Jesus

Have you sensed that now, more than ever, we need the hope of Jesus? In unbelievable ways, our culture is divided, scared, enraged and much like a sheep without a shepherd.

Together with you, we are heartbroken over the racial divides, injustices, murders, riots, bigotry, fear and hate spreading across our country. Like you, we are saddened and seeking Jesus for an appropriate response to somehow speak love to our brothers and sisters who have had to live with racism and hate in ways many of us will never know. How do we tell them that we love them without it seeming small? How do we become more involved without it seeming trite?
