    Remain – a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Have you ever seen a branch “work” to remain on a vine? Ever notice a branch wrestle, writhe, and labor? Of course not!"

    “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:4-5

    I recently read through The One Year Bible and found these verses in John; they are perhaps among my favorites. These words come from our Savior Jesus. They remind me, quite simply, that “fruit” produced in our lives comes through abiding and resting in Him.

    Bold as a Lion – a word by Pastor Josh Whitney from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "as God’s children, we can be people of courage. Because of what God has done for us, we can be as bold as lions!"

    “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” — Proverbs 28:1

    Do you read the news? There is certainly a lot out there to cause worry and fear in my heart. So much is going on — from political unrest to droughts (and now flooding), shootings, economic news (inflation, the banking crisis, or interest rates), wars, rumors of wars, increasing wickedness, the love of many growing cold, etc. All that is happening locally, nationally, and globally naturally fills us with worry and fear.

    Drought, Rain and Prayer – a word by Pastor Josh Whitney from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "There is absolutely power in our prayers. Elijah was a man just like us. And God answered his prayers for less and then more rain."

    “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.” — James 5:16b-18

    Utah is experiencing a severe drought. In fact, 88% of our state is under extreme drought conditions. Due to this, back in June, Governor Cox said, “Because there is power in prayer, we are asking all of you and your congregations to join us in a weekend of prayer this coming weekend, June 4-6.” (On a side note, when I mentioned the governor’s prayer request to pastors in other states, they found it remarkable.)
