  1. The Coming Harvest

Comments Off on The Coming Harvest
The Coming Harvest — a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Decades of simple, steady, quiet goodness had produced a harvest far beyond what Mr. Eugene ever imagined."

I recently had the privilege of teaching on Galatians (6:6-10) at our weekend services. I entitled the talk “The Harvest and the Fire.”

There is surely so much rich truth packed in all of these verses. But one of my favorite ones is verse nine. It says this:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Sometimes, it’s hard to live our Christian faith in a consistent way. It’s often tempting to give up or give in to sin. But this verse reminds us that the Lord is in charge of the harvest. Additionally, we will reap a wonderful harvest of good (at the proper time) if we don’t give up.

  3. Pathway to Joy

Pathway to Joy – a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "this matters because humility is the pathway to joy. When we walk in humility, we walk in step with the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” — Proverbs 11:2

“For pride is spiritual cancer: it eats up the very possibility of love, or contentment, or even common sense.” -Timothy Keller

The dictionary defines pride as “a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in conduct, etc.”

Pride is thinking only of yourself all the time. It bolsters attitudes and thoughts like: you “can’t be wrong” or you “have to be the best.” Inversely, pride rears its head when you think you are “always wrong” and “not good at anything.” In either scenario, your eyes are only on yourself.

  4. A Heart of Thanks

A Heart of Thanks – a word by Pastor Steele Croswhite from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "though He is pleased with our “service” to Him, what honors Him, what brings a smile to His face even more, is our heartfelt thanks to Him."

“He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me….” — Psalm 50:23 (NIV84)

I really love serving God. I absolutely mean it. My heart longs to do more for Him. I love serving His people and playing music for Him. I love knowing Him more and more. Each day, I seek to bring honor to God by serving Him.

That being said, this verse in Psalm 50 has recently really impacted me. Prior to verse 23, God reminds His people that though they “sacrifice” to Him, what really brings Him honor is giving thanks to Him.
