  1. Bearing Fruit in Keeping with Repentance

Bearing Fruit in Keeping with Repentance — a word by Pastor Tony D'Amico from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "Fruit isn’t something a tree forces out in a single moment. On the contrary, it grows naturally when the tree is healthy and rooted."

As we start the new year, many of us reflect on the past and naturally make plans for the future. It’s for sure a season of resolutions and fresh starts. Reading in Matthew 3:8, John the Baptist gives us a piece of timeless wisdom that can always guide us. It guides us not just at the start of the year but every single day: “Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.” Repentance isn’t just about feeling bad or saying sorry. It’s also about a life transformed by God’s grace.

  2. Out With The Old, In With The New

Comments Off on Out With The Old, In With The New

Happy New Year! Once again, one year ends while another one takes its place. It’s a never-ending cycle. As I was reading through Revelation, something really stood out to me. When Jesus comes to make all things new, it will be the end of the “out with the old and in with the new” mentality we’ve all known.

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” — Revelation 21:1-3

  3. Live By Faith

Comments Off on Live By Faith
Live By Faith — a word by Pastor Steve McInory from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "we live by faith. It is an absolute privilege, a gift from God. And a time is coming soon when everyone who has lived by faith in Jesus"

We get to live by faith not only from our past experiences but also those in the present and in the future. It’s New Year’s Eve (Happy New Year), and we’ll usher in a new year at midnight. 2024 and the faith we walked in (and hopefully learned from) will be in the rearview mirror. The year ahead will certainly offer new opportunities to live by faith.

    Faith From The Past

We can undoubtedly learn from not just this past year, but all prior years. Many of you will no doubt remember 2024 as a decadent chocolate dessert as it slowly melts in your mouth. Perhaps you’re healed from a difficult medical challenge, promoted at work, graduated from school, fell in love, got married, had your first baby, or your fifth? You have memories of incredibly joyful events. Maybe even more amazing, you were “born again” and became a follower of Jesus? All glory to God! Yes, many of you are currently thrilled to walk by faith in the goodness of God.

  4. His Mercies Are New Every Morning (and Every Year)

His Mercies Are New Every Morning (and Every Year) — a word by Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "His mercies bring hope. I don’t know how people go through difficult circumstances without the hope of Jesus."

“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:21-23

It’s almost hard to believe that another year has come and gone. Every year, I seem more surprised by how quickly the calendar year moves. The new year always feels like a mixed bag of emotions. While January 1 can seem to give the appearance of a clean slate for goals, resolutions, and moving forward, it’s really no different from December 31.

  5. Don’t Put This Light Away!

Don’t Put This Light Away! – a word by Pastor Bryan D. Edwards from The Rock Church in Draper, UT. "how you may feel about the Christmas lights coming down and getting packed away. However, I pray you’ll remember that the Light of the World"

Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time of the year! But, the day after Christmas… not so much. Admittedly, all the excitement that went into putting up the Christmas lights is now nonexistent. The time has finally come to take them down.

But certainly, don’t let December 26th be the day you put all of the excitement of Christmas away until next year. Instead, ponder the incarnation of God in the Lord Jesus Christ. It means He has come to illuminate our lives today and forevermore.

  6. Purpose for the New Year

Purpose for the New Year – a word by Pastor Caleb Yetton from The Rock Church A lot of this personal analysis can be boiled down to re-evaluating two questions: “What is my purpose?” and “How do I fulfill that purpose?”

A new year is upon us. For many, it’s a time for assessment, introspection and resolutions. A lot of this personal analysis can be boiled down to re-evaluating two questions: “What is my purpose?” and “How do I fulfill that purpose?”

I believe the answer to those two questions is found in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22). Jesus said the greatest commandment of the law was (vs 37-38), “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”

Resolution, A Word by Pastor Josh Whitney

Church, we have just started a new year — 2016. Many people make resolutions at the start of a new year — to eat healthier or exercise more. A resolution is defined as “a firm decision to do something”. Church, could I challenge all of you to make the resolution that 2016 is the year you read God’s Word every day? The Scripture promises us many benefits from studying God’s Word.

  8. Happy New Year!

A new year often motivates people to start something new and can also give us a sense of relief when we get a chance to start over. Out goes Old Man 2013 and in comes the Young Hope of 2014. Lose weight, pray more, stop smoking, start budgeting, help others, share your faith, clean your car, read your Bible, spend more time with your kids, and on and on. These are all fine things to strive for and if a New Year’s resolution helps you get there, then I say go for it. Like a fresh coat of snow covers up the dead browns of fall, we see things anew and the possibilities in the future seem endless.
