We begin with a demon possessed slave girl. This girl is aggravating Paul and Silas so much that it provokes Paul into commanding the demon to leave the girl in the name of Jesus. This incites a riot; the two disciples are violently mistreated and thrown into prison. At midnight, in an incomprehensible act, the disciples begin to sing hymns and pray within earshot of the prisoners and the jailor's family. In yet another incredulous sequence of events, God answers their prayers with an earthquake. This causes the jailer and his entire family to believe in Jesus. We all have inexplicable events that happen all around us. We need to learn to respond to God and react in ways that honor him and point others to Jesus.
