It addresses practical issues like: friendship, integrity, marriage, money, matters of the heart, resisting temptation, and dealing with trials. Wisdom for living is found in this amazing book — it promises life to those who follow its advice and death to those who ignore it. Learn how to “Get Wisdom” for your life.

This is a 14 week series that runs from January 5, 2019 through April 7, 2019

The key verse: Proverbs 4:7 — “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.”

During the course of this series, we challenge you to read one chapter of Proverbs per day!

David

What was it about David that made him a man after God’s own heart? The Bible says that David was so passionate that he sang and danced before the Lord with all of his soul, heart, and might. Even when he was mocked he wasn’t ashamed. Instead, he danced and sang all the louder. He had a real passion for God! David was also a bonafide musical genius. He was the first one to assemble symphonies, harmonies, stringed instruments, horns, voices and choirs to sing in unison before the Lord. David was unmatched in his military skill. Certainly, that makes him unique. It made him stand out in the Bible. David was an ultimate fighter. The guy was insane. God actually said, “David, your sword has been too bloodied. You have killed too many people in battle, you can’t build the temple — your son can!” David was an incredible leader. He led his troops and he led his men in epic battles. He was an incredible fighter, and incredible military mind. All of these qualities make David a hero. All of these things make him amazing. But, I think there is one thing that really set David apart. That one thing is what God wants us to have. The one thing that God saw in David (and inclined him to say “you’re a man after my own heart”)…was his HUMILITY!

The stories of the Old Testament can sometimes be unfamiliar to us as Christians. It says in Romans 15:4, "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." But, like this verse in Romans states, they were written to instruct us. Join us as we spend 12 weeks studying through a variety of Old Testament characters. Studying their lives in greater detail will both instruct and challenge us. But, it doesn't stop there. These Old Testament characters don't simply instruct and encourage us. They also point (like a big, old laser beam) to Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it means to live a life of faith. All of these heroes of the Old Testament are ultimately a version of or a picture of Jesus. Join us as Jesus is Better!
