“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1: 3-5

We all know what Jesus’ final marching orders to His disciples were before He ascended; “Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19,20) If we claim to be a follower of Jesus, those are our marching orders, too. Basically, do you love Jesus? Then go, make disciples!

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” Psalm 31:24 (ESV)

We all experience times in our lives when we have to wait for something. There are times that are simply mundane, like waiting in line at the grocery store or at the bank. It could be waiting for something exciting, like going on a trip to Disneyland or a long awaited vacation to Europe. Or, it could be waiting for things that are not so exciting, like hearing back about a job interview or waiting to hear about medical test results.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

We just finished our study through the Book of Jonah; I think the story of Jonah has become one of the most challenging stories in the Bible to believe. Even back in 1794, Thomas Paine, author of “The Age of Reason” says that the book of Jonah is “…A fit story for ridicule if it was written to be believed — or of laughter if it was intended to try what credulity could swallow, for if it could swallow Jonah and the whale it could swallow anything.”

  5. Made Complete by

By God’s grace and because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, I am being made complete. I love that truth.

All of my children are now 21 years old (and older), living their adult lives and following the Lord for themselves. My role as a father looks very different now from the days of changing diapers, coaching flag football, giving white knuckle driving lessons, and doing my best to instill godly principles. Those are sweet memories that I will always cherish.

  6. Growing Faith, Increasing Love by

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3

Recently, I had the absolute privilege of going on our “Core Retreat” with our SLC location. That time together was tremendous. For two nights and three days nearly 100 people gathered in the mountains for a time of: connecting with each other, worshipping together, learning together, hiking together, playing paint ball together, and even watching the kiddos brave a huge “slip-n-side” down the mountain side.
